Tattoo Aritst + Technology = Dali Rău

Friends, Interesting Links, Website No Comments »

My brother recently started getting some new tattoos and it got me to thinking that I should get mine re-done and maybe get some new ones. ( I know my girlfriend is cringing at this point. ). If you haven’t seen my tattoos yet, I’m sure there are some pictures in my gallery somewhere of them but in order to save you the browsing time - I like tribals. I like the clean, artistic design of them. I like how they stay nice and bold, even as the tattoo gets older. And if you know me at all, I do not simply like dragons, I love them. I collect them. Hell, the Tiger calls me the Dragon.

The problem with tribal designs is that they are everywhere and when they are everywhere, it means you get some really crappy ones and some really good ones. After about 3 weeks of scouring the web, I found Dali Rău. This guy is just amazing. And the best part, he’s into computers and technology. Hell, he has his own wordpress 2.5 blog. I mean, c’mon, how cool is that? Most tattoo artists around here are just into bikes and skulls and crap. Here’s a dude who actually knows what XHTML is and is pissed when his site doesn’t validate. ( FYI, my site doesn’t validate, due to some issues with how Wordpress displays the link categories.. ). The only downfall? He lives in Japan. :(

So, me and the Tiger are thinking of planning an excursion for sometime later this year to make the trip to Japan, drink lots of sake, eat lots of sushi and get ourselves some tattoos from the venerable Dali.

If you’re into tattoos at all, check his site out.

P90X Updates

Friends, Health, P90X No Comments »

Ok, so I skipped a few days of updating the site, got a little busy. I rocked it up this week, with my only failure being a missed Kenpo session. I went golfing on Saturday and was sun-burnt and exhausted afterwards and promptly took a nap. So, with the decision of Kenpo vs Yoga, I chose to do Yoga. My reasons behind this being that Yoga, for me, is much harder than Kenpo, provides alot more flexibility and burns calories, while Kenpo is pretty much a cardio workout, which I can get from running.

I’ve updated my P90X log with a bunch more data for this week. Also, I want to congratulate the Tiger on his completed 50 miles! He made it the way through, lost some weight and got more stamina. He crushed me in the challenge, but never fear, for Revenge of Chan is our new challenge with a higher mile rate and I WILL NOT BE DEFEATED AGAIN! Also, check out Mardagan’s P90X blog, he’s making some great progress.

More fun and back on track.

So you may have noticed that the theme on this site kept changing. The basic reason being that I couldn’t find a damn theme that I was entirely happy with. Redoable was nice, but had bugs due to it no longer being developed. I fixed a few but more just seemed to keep popping up. Hemingway had it’s issues, as did Foilage. I went back to Emire, which has no bugs, but I had that theme for a lonnnnnnnnnnnng time. Finally, I found this one, called dreamplace. I think it looks cool, it doesn’t have any bugs, scales well and has the calendar that I wanted, although it doesn’t highlight the days, which is something I’ll have to fix.

As for other things, I finished my first week of P90X ( again ). Thanks to all who have left comments, I really appreciate them. I ended up missing Friday due to work issues ( I had to go in at 4 AM, left at 2 and fell asleep ), so I did Legs and Back on Saturday and Kenpo today and I’ve got Chest and Back tomorrow. I’m down to 190 lbs and 20% body fat at the moment, so from here I’ll start the blog pages back up again. Everyone is alot further ahead of me in the program, which sucks but at least it keeps the motivation going for me.

I totally flailed on my challenges with the Tiger, due to my sickness and recent work issues. I won’t be making my goals either, so I’ll have to reset them. At least I got the Tiger running though and hopefully we can start another BeerChan challenge back up.

Anyways, I have to head off to go bowling in a sec ( no more beer. :( ), but keep checking the site for more updates!

My buddie Jeremy has started his own site over at mardagan.wordpress.com. It is his own P90X blog, even though he’s well ahead of me in the program. So please, take a moment to visit there and leave some encouraging words for him!

Eye of the Tiger..

That’s what I’ll be having for dinner if the Tiger doesn’t shape up, hurry up and get his nano with his Nike+ kit. I’ve already got a headstart on him! Maybe posting the challenge here so all the world can see his failure will make him hurry up…

That’s right Bond. I just threw the glove.

My time is precious

So yeah, I suck, I’m sorry. No updates in quite a while. It’s not that I’ve forgotten, it’s just that I’ve been super busy with some other projects. I’ve been working on a new theme for WordPress, as I think I’ve mentioned before ( and I’m too lazy right now to go check my old posts ). The Tiger was SUPPOSED to assist in it but his Japanese counterparts decided he had better things to do, like dress up in a skirt and dance on their sushi tables. Poor fish.

I’ve also been trying to learn Ruby and Objective C. Typical OS X languages and it’s been an interesting time. The real lack of imagination on my part makes it more difficult. You really have to think of alot of projects that you can complete in the new language so that you can become fluent in them, otherwise, it just slips away. ( Like most of my thoughts.. ).

Other then that, Marielle has kept me busy, most enjoyably so. We are still doing really well and she got a new job over at Amgen, which has kept her a little busier. We had a good Valentine’s day, although, I’d advise to never watch Last Kiss as a Valentine’s day movie, that is, unless your idea of a good movie is where a bunch of people cheat on each other.

I’m sorry about the real lack of content but when I was so subtly told that I needed to update my blog ( Hi SARAH! ), I figured it probably was about time for me to just give a little notice that I do, indeed, still breathe.

Hopefully the next time I update, it will be with the new theme so I can actually post some real content.

9 to 5.

No, that’s not the hours I work ( that’s more like 10 to 3.. ).  It’s the score of our SECOND WIN.  That’s right, my small fellowship of readers, we have won another soccer game.  Yes, those are pigs flying outside your window right now.  After being behind 0 to 3, we came back and crushed them.  Next step, playoffs!

In other news, my landlady is a total bitch.  I’ll update about that later but I just wanted to post and say how awesome my parents are and how thankful I am for them to volunteer to take the dogs for awhile, letting me get situated before I can take the dogs back.

Alright, time for me to be off to bed.
