Puppet would work well in our datacenter although we'd have to create, from the ground up, support for Windows - not something we have the time to do. But, I heard Bladelogic can manage heterogeneous data center very well. Google is using Puppet for its unique infrastructure, I can not image Google could use same thire own OS on every server.
